Coimbatore XI triumphs

MANGALORE, MAY 26. Coimbatore XI won the S.A. Koya Memorial South India invitation football tournament 2004, which concluded here on Tuesday. It beat Citizen Sports Club, Uppala 2-0 in the final to take home the S.A. Koya Trophy and a cash award of Rs. 20,000. Ashraf of Citizens SC was declared the best player of the meet.

Subir of Coimbatore XI opened the tally for the winner with a 35-yard free kick in the 30th minute to allow the team lead 1-0 at the breather. Subir scored again in the second half to increase the tally.
