Charged with attempt to rape

The Osmania University police are on the look out for P. Srinivas (35), who had allegedly attempted to outrage the modesty of his 13-year-old niece. Interestingly, it was his mother who alerted the police about the incident.

Five held for various offences

The Afzalgunj police arrested five persons on Wednesday in connection with various property offences. R. Satyanarayana of Esamia Bazar and Uday Kiran of Nimboliadda were arrested and six motorcycles they had allegedly stolen were recovered. In another case, Shaik Chand (38) and U. Ravi (20), both residents of Mangar Street in Afzalsagar, were arrested after they allegedly attempted to pickpocket a RTC passenger. In yet another case, Ashok Singh of Maharashtra, who allegedly stole bags in bus stand, was arrested.

Three held; jewellery recovered

The Tappachabutra police picked up three persons on Tuesday and recovered 22 tolas of jewellery they had allegedly stolen. The accused -- Abdul Feroz Khan (22), Syed Moinuddin (19) and Syed Jaani (19) - confessed to have committed two house burglaries at knife point, the Asifnagar ACP, V. Mahender Reddy, said.

Labourer found murdered

A labourer, Mogilaiah (35) of Medak district, who came to his relatives' house in Ramchandrapuram to attend a function on Monday, was found murdered in bushes at Reddy Colony in Chandanagar on Tuesday. The victim's face was partially burnt.

Pirated VCDs seized

The police raided two video parlours and seized 744 pirated VCDs of various movies, a press release said.
