THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 26. Free medical camps would be held in the State for treating viral fever, the Health Minister, Kadavoor Sivadasan, has said. Preventive Homoeo medicines for viral fever would be made available in all primary health centres in the State in the next two days. Ayurveda medicines for treating viral fever would also be made available in all 852 Ayurveda treatment centres in the State as well as in the primary health centres, he added. A meeting was called by the Health Minister to review the outbreak of viral fever in the State. About 11,000 persons in the State were afflicted with viral fever this month. Last week, the figure was 7,500. Those afflicted with fever should make use of the free treatment facility at the nearest Government hospital, the Minister said. Because of climatic changes, fever could lead to other infections and hence treatment should not be delayed. In children, viral fever could develop into pneumonia or other infections. Medicines for treating viral fever are now available at all the primary health centres, taluk and district hospitals, he added.
