This Day That Age
The Ceylon Government have, from July 1, withdrawn the exemption hitherto granted to bona fide tourists from India to enter Ceylon without visas. A communiqué issued in Colombo on May 26 states that tourists from India will after this date be required to be in possession of a visa before entry into Ceylon. Visas should be obtained in India only from Consular offices of the Ceylon Government in New Delhi, Bombay and Madras and from the Ceylon Government Immigration offices at Tiruchi and Mandapam camp. The Ceylon Government have also, from June 1, withdrawn the facility granted to estate labourers to travel between India and Ceylon on identification certificates issued by estate authorities.
