80.64 p. c. in Namakkal

NAMAKKAL, MAY 27. A total of 12,440 students out of the 15,426 who took the Secondary School Leaving Certificate exams this year in Namakkal district have come out successful giving the district an overall pass percentage of 80.64. This is lower than last year's average by 3.75 per cent. However, in individual ranks, K. Malini of the Vidya Vikas Higher Secondary School, Varakooranpatti near Tiruchengode, has bagged the overall second spot in the State with an aggregate of 493 out of a possible 500 marks.

Out of the 8,130 boys and 7,296 girls who took the SSLC exams recently, 6,102 and 6,338 respectively have passed. The Government High School, Patlur, was able to achieve a 100 per cent success rate while 10 other aided schools and 27 matriculation schools achieved the feat this year.

In the self-financing school section, Vidya Vikas HSS, Varakooranpatti, walked away with the top three spots in the district with its students K. Malini (493), N. P. Sri Harichandran (491) and S. Haribalan (489) outshining others. In the Government schools category, K. Sathish Kumar of the Government High School, Kandampalayam, scored 486 followed M. Gowthami and M. Revathi both from the Municipal Higher Secondary School, Fort, Namakkal, as also A. M. Prakash of the Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Vennandur, all having scored 485. Two students shared the third spot — C. Mohan of the Government HSS, Vennandur, and R. Sathya of the Government High School, Vaiyyappamalai, with both of them having aggregated 484 marks.

In the aided schools category, the students of the Bharathi Higher Secondary School, Reddipatti, B. Vignesh (486) and A. Karthik (484) took the first and second spots in the district while A. Aarthi of Sankar Migh School, Sankagiri (West), with 483 marks took the third position

In Udhagamandalam, Yamuna Priya of the Fathima Girls Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, with 491 marks stood first in the Nilgiris district. D. Stanley of the Saint Mary's Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, who scored 486 marks, followed her. N. Chandrika of the Fathima Girls Higher Secondary School, Gudalur, and Mohammed Farook of the Government Higher Secondary School, Manjoor, shared the third rank. They scored 485 marks each. Out of 8,087 students who appeared for the SSLC examinations in the Nilgiris, 6,704 got through.
