KOZHIKODE, MAY 27. The Education Minister, Nalakath Soopy, will release `Innolam', a comprehensive book containing the history of the high schools, higher secondary schools, training schools and education departments in Kozhikode district, at a function here on May 28. It is for the first time in the State that such a book is being brought out under the auspices of the Deputy Director of Education and the Parent-Teacher Associations. The 500-page book contains the genesis of an institution, background, peculiarities of the locality and the stories associated with the names. It also gives a detailed sketch of the known and unknown people who had contributed their mite to set up these institutions. The research activities on these aspects were carried out by teachers and officials. Hundreds of people took part in the endeavour. Photos and details of the educational institutions including professional colleges have also been included in the book. It would be given free of cost to all schools concerned. The Deputy Director of Education, M.K. Raju, the managing editor, Paul Kallanod, the chief editor, Akbar Kakkattil, and the executive editor, P. Yahiya, comprised the editorial team. Mr. Soopy has written the foreword while the Jnanpith laureate, M.T. Vasudevan Nair, has written the preface of the book. Mr. Soopy will release the book at the S.K. Pottekkat Samskarika Nilayam here at 3 p.m. on May 28. The Kozhikode district panchayat president, M.K. Nalini, and the MLAs, A. Sujanapal, T.P.M. Zahir and Mathai Chacko will participate in the programme.
