Rise in pass percentage

SIVAGANGA, MAY 27. A total of 10,097 out of 11,755 students, who appeared for the Std. X examinations in Sivaganga district, have passed. The overall pass percentage has marginally improved from 84.5 to 85.9 percent, compared to the previous year.

Once again, girls outnumbered boys in terms of the success rate. The pass percentage of girls is 87.75 percent while that of the boys is 82.75.

K. R. Raghubalan of N.S.P.P. Higher Secondary School (HSS), Devakottai, topped the district. He missed the state first rank, by just 4 marks. He secured 491 marks out of 500. He scored centum in Science and Mathematics. Both his parents, father K. Rajendran and mother K. Amutha are teachers. K. Vairasholai of Chidambaram Chettiar HSS, I. Gomathi and T. Dhanalakshmi of St. Mary's HSS shared the second rank in the district, by scoring 490 marks. M. Jayalakshmi of St. Mary's HSS placed third.

According to Chief Educational Officer, A. Karuppasamy, out of 146 schools, 21 schools have got cent percent results including seven government schools in contrast to last year's results where only five schools got an all-pass result.

In Ramanathapuram district, out of 13,936 students, 11,058 students passed. The percentage of success is 79.35, which is higher than last year's 77.52 percent.

Here too, girls fared better than boys. The girls' success rate is a good 4 percent higher than the boys' rate of 77.69 percent.

N. Manimala of A.V. Higher Secondary School, Paramakudi, bagged the top rank in the district by scoring 485 marks. K. Dhivya of Abiraman Muslim HSS, placed second by scoring 481 marks. P. Tharini of K. N. Girls HSS, Kamudhi and M. Jenani of St. Anthreya Girls HSS share the third rank by scoring 480 marks.

In the matriculation examinations, S. Sowmiya and S. Pavithra of Swuartz Matriculation School, Ramanathapuram have captured the first and third places, respectively. Sowmiya scored 1030 marks out of 1100 while Pavithra obtained 1021 marks. S. Rajathi Fathima of Syed Ammal Matriculation School, Ramanathapuram, secured the second rank with 1025 marks.
