Toddy workers threaten stir
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM,
MAY 27.
The Joint Action Council of toddy industry workers has threatened to launch a stir if the Government does not take urgent steps to resolve the crisis in the toddy sector.
In a statement here today, it said the action council meeting here had decided to launch agitations if the Government failed to take early measures to reopen all the closed toddy shops, hand over shops that had not been taken in auction by anyone to the workers and ensure reopening of all the shops that had been taken in auction.
The action council convener, K.M. Sudhakaran, said in a statement here that if there was no decision on these demands at the meeting convened by the Excise Minister here on June 2, the action council meeting on the same day would chalk out its agitation plans.
