JAIPUR, MAY 27. A 16-year-old whizkid from Jaipur who is studying in St. Mary's International School in Tokyo, Japan, has won laurels for six consecutive years for his intellectual assets and creative talents. The boy has won four awards for his achievements this year. Tushar Khandelwal, who originally hails from Jaipur, is presently studying in 10th standard while staying with his father in Tokyo. He was recently awarded the certificate of recognition by the Kanto Plain Association of Secondary School Principals (KPASSP) for his excellent performance in original informative. Tushar's grandfather, Triloki Das Khandelwal -- a social activist and owner of the legendary "Nawab Sahib Ki Haveli'' situated in the Walled City here -- told The Hindu today that Tushar had bagged two other certificates for his brilliance in algebra and for his oratory abilities in the KPASSP speech contest this year. The Jaipur lad was made the manager of the Basketball Titans in his school during 2003-04 in recognition of his leadership qualities and was earlier the recipient of the 2002 award for outstanding achievement in algebra and the 2003 award for geometry. The basketball team headed by him had members from the U.S., Taiwan and Ethiopia. Tushar has the distinction of being the only Indian student whose paintings were selected from over 9,000 entries for display at the prestigious museums in Japan in 1998. Mr. Khandelwal said the selection was made by Japan's Institute of Invention and Innovation for the exhibition titled "The 20th exhibition of children's art of tomorrow's science''.
