CHENNAI, MAY 27. S. Sriram, a student of Sri Ahobila Math Oriental Higher Secondary School in West Mambalam, secured the first rank in Sanskrit in the Oriental School Leaving Certificate public examination, results of which were announced today. He scored 178 out of 200 in Sanskrit and 557 out of 600 in the examination. The school described him as "a brilliant student," who also obtained an uttamottama (distinction) in the Sapthakanda Adyanana in Yajur Veda Samhita in the examination conducted by Maharshi Sandipani Rashtriya Veda Vidya Prathishtan. V. Suganya of the school got the third rank in the State in Sanskrit (94/100) and scored 548 marks out of 600. Out of the 81 students, who appeared for the examination, 27 scored 500 marks and above, 46 over 400 and only eight below 399. The school has secured six centums in mathematics and two in science.
Matriculation examination
V. Harihara Subramanian of Sri Sankara Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School in East Tambaram has scored 1042 marks out of 1100 in the matriculation examination, which includes a centum in Sanskrit. S. Abhirami and P.V. Karthik of the school scored 1028 and 1025 marks respectively. According to a press release from the school, over 25 students scored more than 1000 marks each and 14 got centum in science. Padmashri got centum in mathematics, while Jayashree scored centum in Sanskrit.
