Accused seeks Tamil charge sheet copies
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
MAY 28.
An accused in the "disproportionate wealth case" against the former Agriculture Minister, Ku.Pa.Krishnan, has moved a special court here seeking Tamil copies of portions of the charge sheet which are in English. The special judge, T. Mathivanan, ordered the prosecution to file a counter by June 4.
After furnishing copies of the charge sheet on May 19, the court posted the case for today. When it was taken up, P. Kanakavalli, cited as fourth accused, filed a petition stating she had nothing to do with Mr. Krishnan's wealth. As she was his sister, she had been arraigned as an accused. She said the names and addresses of witnesses and details of documents given in the charge sheet and the statements of some of the witnesses were in English. She could not read that language. Further, the statements of some other witnesses were not furnished to her.
