Madurai keeps crown, Dindigul girls win

PUDUKOTTAI, MAY 28. Madurai retained the Manimaran memorial Trophy with a 57-47 win over Coimbatore in the boys' final of the Tamil Nadu State youth (under-16) basketball championship, conducted jointly by JJ College of Engineering and Pudukottai District Basketball Association, at JJ College courts here on Thursday.

Dindigul lifted the Chandra Pandian memorial Trophy dethroning Salem 45-36 in the girls' final.

The results:

Boys: Final: Madurai 57 (Anbukumar 12, R. Anand 10, Pari Mannavan 10) bt Coimbatore 47 (Guru Prasad 10); Third place: Dindigul 48 bt Chennai 45 (Praveen 10).

Girls: Final: Dindigul 45 (Guna Mary 10) bt Salem 36 (Diana 10); Third place: Kancheepuram 37 (Sangeetha 18) bt Chennai 26 (Jennet 21). — Our Correspondent
