Sania surprises Sobral

HYDERABAD, MAY 28. India's Sania Mirza knocked out fifth-seeded Sobral of Brazil 6-4, 5-7, 7-3 in the quarterfinals of the $ 10,000 Regione House ITF tennis tournament being held at Compobasso (Italy), according to information received here today.

Sania, sponsored by GVK Group of Industries, won the first set punctuated by long rallies, and was up 5-4 in the second. However, she failed to capitalise on the chances that came her way to lose that set.

In the decider, the Hyderabad girl rallied from 2-3 to take four games in-a-row and wrap up the set and match which lasted 135 minutes.
