Combined Zone posts 374

BANGALORE, MAY 28. Combined Zone posted 374 and restricted East Zone to 168 for five at close on the second day of the Col. Hemu Adhikari Memorial Inter-Academy tournament match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Friday.

Combined Zone added 135 to its overnight 239 for five. East's reply was hampered by a poor start as Jagrut Mehta struck early and it was left to Arindam Ghosh (59 n.o.) and Manoj Tewari (67) to shore up the innings.

At the WAP Ground, five-wicket hauls by left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha and off-spinner Ryan Ninan helped South Zone restrict West Zone to 213 and limit its first innings deficit to 67 runs. South was 65 for four in its second innings.

At the IAF Ground, Central Zone wrested a 98-run first innings lead over North Zone.

Central scored 279, thanks to Arish Alam (82) and Piyush Chawla (42).

North Zone 181 vs Central Zone 279 in 94.2 overs (Arish Alam 82, Piyush Chawla 42).

Combined Zone 374 in 125.4 overs (Gaurav Sharma 67, Bikash Patil 63, Mahesh Rawat 48, Mohnish Parmar 47, Sanjay Bharati 46, Ankur Garg 31) vs East Zone 168 for five in 56 overs (Manoj Tewari 67, Arindam Ghosh 59 n.o.; Jagrut Mehta three for 35).

South Zone 146 and 65 for four (Rohit Jadhav three for 18) vs West Zone 213 in 67.1 overs (C. Pujar 92, Pinal Shah 30, Pragyan Ojha five for 59, Ryan Ninan five for 63).
