Priests performing `kumbhabhishekam' at the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple in Tiruchanoor on Saturday.
TIRUPATI, May 29. Mahasamprokshanam was performed at the temple of Goddess Padmavathi, Tiruchanoor, on Saturday signalling the end of the balalayam renovation and the reopening of the sanctum sanctorum for darshan of the main deity. Thousands of devotees participated in the religious ceremony performed by a battery of priests and pundits led by pancharathra agama pundit, Tirumalachary, amid chanting of verses from the scriptures in an atmosphere charged with religious fervour and devotional ecstasy. After an elaborate poornathuthi the priests carried the kumbham around the temple and later consecrated the Vimanam atop the sanctum sanctorum even as the devotees chanted Govindanama non-stop till the end of the ritual. The Tirupati Tirmala Devasthanam's Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, participated.
