Groom vanishes

ADILABAD, MAY 29. The two-town police on Saturday received a unusual complaint of a groom vanishing at the appointed hour. The groom, Ravi, is an auto driver from the Ramnagar locality in Adilabad town.

According to the complainant, Jadi Lingam, of Aakonda village in Kadam mandal, who is father of the bride, his daughter and Ravi were engaged about a month ago. Of the Rs. 40,000 dowry agreed upon, Rs. 10,000 was paid in advance. The marriage was fixed for 12.30 pm on Saturday at the groom's residence. But the bride's party was shocked to find the groom missing at the `muhurtham'. After waiting for four hours, they lodged a complaint with the police.
