`Ministry expansion by next week'

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, MAY 29. The Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, said today that the coalition Ministry headed by him would be expanded by next week.

It would be a 34-member Ministry and the coalition partners — the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) — would have equal number of ministerial berths, he told presspersons here.

Mr. Singh said the general secretary of the All-India Congress Committee, Vilasrao Deshmukh, who is in charge of party affairs in the State, was in the City and they would hold consultations in this regard.

Mr. Singh said he planned to visit New Delhi on Monday for talks with the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, on the induction of Congress members.

Responding to a question, Mr. Singh said the new coalition would last its full term and he foresaw no problems.

Addressing presspersons earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, also said the Ministry would be expanded by next week.
