NALGONDA, MAY 29. K. Jana Reddy was accorded a rousing reception by the Congress activist during his maiden visit to the district headquarters after becoming Home Minister on Saturday. More than 200 activists from his native constituency, Chalakurthy, thronged R&B guest house to greet their leader. Though he instructed party activists to avoid pomp, some of his staunch supporters brought garlands and bouquets to greet their leader. After addressing trainees at Maithri-Labs, a job-oriented training programme being jointly run by Dr. Reddy's Foundation, the District Rural Development Authority and the district police, he stayed at R&B guest house only to meet his supporters. Thanking them for the whole-hearted support extended by them during electioneering, he said he would strive hard to serve the district. The Collector, R.P. Sisodia, and the Superintendent of Police, N. Balasubramanyam, also met him there. Accompanied by the District Congress Committee president, Mallesh Goud, the ZP chairperson, Keetha Laxmamma, and the local MLA, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he visited the DCC office at the old market. The local Congress cadres accorded a tumultuous welcome to the Minister. Thanking them for the affection shown to him, Mr. Reddy said he would concentrate to construct a permanent building for the DCC office in three months. In his meeting with party leaders and also at the meet-the-press programme organised by the Nalgonda Press Club, Mr. Reddy said he did not belong to any group. "Though I am holding the post, it belongs to all MLAs of the district. I am here to get rid of the fluoride problem and to settle other issues for which the support of all sections is needed,'' he said.
