ADILABAD, MAY 29. The Adilabad MP-elect, T. Madhusudan Reddy, has promised to see that a passenger train is run between Adilabad town and Majri station in Maharashtra connecting Nagpur city by the beginning of next year. He even organised a track survey of the Adilabad-Majri railway line by chief engineers of South Central and Central Railways to study the feasibility of running a passenger train on the existing broad gauge line. The survey yielded a positive record. The railway engineers also inspected the ongoing gauge conversion works between Adilabad and Kinwat in Maharashtra. After gauge conversion, the line would be opened for traffic between Nanded and Nagpur on the main line to New Delhi. In a chat with The Hindu on Saturday, Mr. Madhusudan Reddy listed development of transport and irrigation in Adilabad as his topmost priorities. The MP-elect said proposals for a railway over-bridge towards the market yard approach would also be cleared soon. In this regard he had a meeting with the SCR General Manager, Stanley Babu, he informed. Mr. Madhusudan Reddy said he would endeavour to tap 128 tmc of the water going waste from the Godavari for irrigation. Of the 165 tmc Godavari waters available in Adilabad only 37 tmc was being used while the rest ran waste, he pointed out. The MP-elect on Saturday inspected a site for the construction of a community hall for Yadavas, which is proposed to be constructed under the MP Local Area Development Scheme funds. He found large-scale irregularities including drawal of Rs. 5 lakh without any construction. He talked to officials on the issue.
