Letters to the Editor
Sir, I believe that the Hindu religion has been evolving over the ages and is progressive. In line with this, I request Hindu religious leaders to look at the rite of consecrating idols performed at temples. This involves use of foodstuff such as milk, butter, fruits, etc., which normally go waste. Perhaps the rite, if it must be performed, can be done on a small scale as a symbolic measure and the funds saved earmarked for the mid-day meals at schools.
