THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MAY 30. The passing out parade of the 23rd batch of Sub-Inspectors, General Executive branch, will be held at the SAP parade ground here on Monday. The Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, will be the chief guest at the passing out parade to be held at 8 a.m. Mr. Antony will inspect the parade, address the Sub-Inspector trainees and later distribute prizes to the winners. The Director General of Police, P.K. Hormese Tharakan, top officials of the Kerala police and people's representatives will attend the function. The training of 172 Sub-Inspector trainees of the Kerala police and 19 from the Pondicherry police began at the Police Training College here on May 5, 2003. The maximum number of 34 trainees is from the capital followed by 29 from adjoining Kollam district. Of the Sub-Inspector trainees, 88 are graduates, 65 post-graduates and 14 are law graduates. Two Sub-Inspector trainees are computer experts, five have doctorates and three have Master of Business Administration degrees. The Sub-Inspector trainees' services were used during the Sabarimala festival season and the just concluded elections to the Lok Sabha. According to the DIG (Training), Police Training College, the Sub-Inspector trainees will be provided 10-month practical training in various police stations and will be later posted as Principal Sub-Inspectors in the police stations.
