HYDERABAD, MAY 30. The Minister for Endowments, M. Satyanarayana Rao, on Sunday gave a green signal for all works pertaining to the Krishna Pushakarams. It may be recalled that four days ago, following complaints of improprieties in the works, he had ordered a stay into the works, pending review. On Sunday, a review meeting was held in the presence of Mr. Rao and the Minister for Municipal Administration, Koneru Ranga Raom, some MLAs and an MP from the five districts in the State, through which the river Krishna flows. The meeting was attended by officials from 13 related departments, and the Commissioner for Information and Public Relations, K.V. Ramanachary. Briefing presspersons after the almost two-and-a-half-long review meeting, he said the emphasis was on ensuring quality works and reducing wasteful expenditure. "We got several complaints from the newly-elected people's representatives about the quality. That is why I ordered a stay until the situation was reviewed thoroughly. Our objective is to see that the estimated 3 crore pilgrims are not put to any inconvenience," he said.
