PONDICHERRY, MAY 30. Families in the `below poverty line' category holding red coloured ration cards would be issued eight litres of kerosene a month from June through the public distribution system in the Union Territory. Disclosing this here on Saturday, the Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Welfare, T. Thiagarajan, said that families falling under the `above poverty line' (APL) category who did not have an LPG connection, would be issued five litres of kerosene a month. APL families having one LPG connection and holding either yellow or green ration cards would be issued one litre of kerosene a month. Families having two LPG connections would not be entitled to kerosene, he said.
