PONDICHERRY, MAY 30. The Education and Revenue Minister, K. Lakshminarayanan, distributed the first instalment of Rs. 10,000 of a total sum of Rs. 40,000 earmarked for each of 46 poor families to enable them to convert their huts into concrete structures on Friday. The beneficiaries covered under a scheme launched by the Department of Survey and Land Records, belonged to villages in Villianoor and Lawspet Assembly constituencies. They had been living on the sites allotted to them by the department.
