Uttam Raj shines

MYSORE, MAY 30. A stroke-filled century by opener Uttam Raj (123) and his 130-run first wicket partnership with Skanda V. Murthy (27), helped Mysore (Chamundi) XI to register a big 160-run win over Chamarajanagar and win the trophy with three wins in as many matches in the Mofussil Zones Inter-District U-15 cricket tournament conducted by the KSCA Mysore Zonal committee at the Maharaja's College grounds here on Sunday.

In the other tie at Gangotri grounds, Mysore (Brindavan) registered a facile nine-wicket win over Mandya.

The scores:

Mysore (Chamundi) 287 for four in 50 overs (Uttam Raj 123, M. Nirmith 64 not out, Skanda V. Murthy 27, M. Somashekar 26) bt Chamarajanagar 127 for nine in 50 overs ( Thejpal Singh 32, Moshin Ahmed 25).

Mandya 72 in 31.2 overs ( Atul Bharadwaj three for 12) lost to Mysore (Brindavan) 74 for one in 18.1 overs (Rohit V. Tiwari 39 not out).
