VIJAYAWADA, MAY 30. The Indian Air Force will conduct a recruitment drive at the Police Parade Grounds in Guntur for selection of airmen in `X' and `Y' categories. The six-day selection trials will commence on June 5 and candidates from Guntur, Krishna, Prakasam and Nalgonda are eligible to participate. The written exam for aspirants from Guntur district for group `Y' will be held on June 5 which will be followed by the interview and medical examination the next day. The written examination for aspirants of group Y trades from Krishna, Prakasam and Nalgonda districts followed by physical fitness test for selected candidates will be held on June 7. The interview and medical examination for these aspirants will be held on June 8. For aspirants of group X trades from the four districts, the written examination and physical fitness tests will be held on June 9 followed by the interview and medical examination on June 10. Candidates aspiring for group Y trades should have passed matriculation or equivalent or Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination with a minimum of 50 per cent marks in aggregate and at least pass marks in English. Candidates born between August 1, 1985 and January 1, 1989 with the specified qualifications can apply. The eligibility criterion for the aspirants of group X trades would be a pass in Intermediate/10+2/equivalent examination with mathematics, physics and English with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent. Candidates with three-year diploma in engineering (mechanical / electrical/ electronics/ automobile/ computer science / instrumentation technology) from a Government recognised polytechnic/institute are also eligible to apply. The candidates aspiring for group X trades should be born between August 1, 1983 and January 1, 1989, according to a press release.
