If this was to be checked, they pointed out, the vacant posts of motor vehicle inspectors should be filled and the police empowered to check illegal operations.

Issue of GO on user

Venkat, general secretary, in a statement issued here, while welcoming the new Government's decision on user charges, said people were looking forward to issue of orders. They alleged that user charges were still being collected in some hospitals. The sangham leaders called for intervention of the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who holds the health portfolio in the absence of the Minister, to direct issue of orders.
HCL, BSNL merger sought
J. Subba Rao, president, and K. Sarath Babu, general secretary, in a statement issued here, said since the merger may take sometime, the BSNL may be asked to place further orders with HCL, along with advance, as was done earlier. This would provide work for employees. The union looks at the merger as a long-term solution and placement of orders along with advance as a short-term remedy for the benefit of the reduced manpower of 6,790.

While the body of Sivaramaiah was being taken out of his house, the enraged youth set fire to the household belongings of the two persons. The Piduguralla police have registered a case and are investigating. Congress workers also ransacked the houses of Manga Appa Rao, Sendala Gangaraju and Mungi Subbaiah, all belonging to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). Congress workers who accompanied the body of Sivaramaiah, after the post-mortem, were alleged to have stolen 40 tolas of gold from the houses.
