By Our Special Correspondent
VIJAYAWADA,
MAY 30.
The Police Department will create a conducive atmosphere for initiating a dialogue with the People's War (PW), according to the Director-General of Police, S.R. Sukumara.
The DGP, who was here on Sunday in connection with a private function, told reporters in an informal chat that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, instructed the police to ensure that a congenial atmosphere was created for talks with naxalites. Accordingly, Superintendents of Police (SP) of all districts had been instructed to change their strategy towards naxalites.
Mr. Sukumara said that the entire police force engaged in the combing operation was being called back. This was the first step in the peace initiative from the Government side.
