ANANTAPUR, MAY 30. The burden of debts due to failure of crops claimed the life of one more farmer in the district on Sunday. K. Dhanunjaya (52) of Gangavaram village in Beluguppa mandal, who consumed poisonous pills last night, died in hospital. According to villagers, the farmer had suffered heavy loss due to the failure of his horticulture crop papaya this year and other rainfed crops during the last four years. As a result, he had accumulated a debt of about Rs. 3 lakhs. NALGONDA: Another farmer, Alimineti Malla Reddy (32) of Chityal, committed suicide due to mounting debt on Sunday. According to information, Malla Reddy reached home after consuming pesticide in his fields and said that he wanted to end his life due to debt burden. He died while being shifted to district headquarters hospital. TIRUPATI: A farmer, Babu Naidu (40), of Parameswara mangalam in Puttur mandal, who attempted suicide a couple of days ago, died last night. Though the farmer owned a two-acre piece of land, he could not raise any crop for the last four years due to consecutive drought and instead settled as a labourer.
