NEW DELHI, MAY 30. Intending to give a facelift to his Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha Constituency in walled city of Delhi, the Minister of State for Science and Technology, Kapil Sibal, is reaching out to Ministries of Culture and Tourism to help him in the endeavour. With ideas like starting a `night food street' to mapping and conserving the historical monuments in the area, Mr. Sibal is keen on preserving the old-world charm of the place and at the same time beautifying it. "I have already contacted the Union I&B and Culture Minister, Jaipal Reddy, and am planning to meet Tourism Minister Renuka Choudhary," Mr. Sibal said at an interaction with journalists here. Fresh from his thumping electoral victory, the lawyer-turned-politician said a "synergy" would have to be developed among various departments to conserve the historical sites in Chandni Chowk. He said he has also instructed the Survey of India to carry out mapping of the monuments in the area, many of which, according to him, had "sadly turned into urinals". -- PTI
