NEW DELHI, MAY 30. Responding to the recently launched Voluntary Load Declaration Scheme of the North Delhi Power Limited (NDPL) for consumers having more than one meter in a single premise, over 200 consumers have come forward to disclose their load voluntarily. The NDPL chief executive officer, Anil Sardana, said the misuse penalty of 1.5 times the applicable tariff and load violation surcharge for the past six months would not be levied on these consumers. "Keeping in view our industrial consumer's interests, we took a decision to facilitate them to declare their load to avoid the associated penalty and disconnection," he said. He urged all industrial consumers to make full use of this last opportunity after which NDPL would start taking action against all those who have unauthorised load. The scheme closes on Monday. For consumers who have opted for this special scheme, NDPL will charge only 50 per cent of the transformer cost, instead of cent per cent. Apart from the above Voluntary Load Declaration Scheme another scheme called Spasht has been introduced for industrial and commercial consumers wherein one premise having more than one connection could avail of the scheme. As per the scheme, of the existing consumers in the premises, one of them will have to play the role of a lead consumer and take responsibility for the difference in energy consumption between the master meter and the polyphase meters. The expenditure incurred for providing the transformer, substation and allied equipment would be borne by NDPL. In addition, the power discom has introduced senior level Apex Committee to hear cases, which are booked for Dishonest Abstraction of Energy and Direct Theft, so that grievances in terms of bills could be reviewed. For this the consumers would have to apply to the Head of Enforcement Assessment Cell, he said.
