CUDDAPAH, MAY 30. The Kulavivaksha Vyatireka Porata Samithi district committee on Sunday warned of an agitation if the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's promises on Dalit welfare were not fulfilled. Addressing the meeting here, its district secretary, C. Babu, recalled YSR's assurances as opposition leader to enforce reservation in the private sector and quota for Dalits in Government contracts and to accept the Justice Punnaiah Commission report. The KVPS district vice-president, B. Narayana, urged the Government to initiate stern action against those who attacked Dalits in Venkatareddipalle in Kodur mandal. Economic empowerment of Dalits could be achieved through distribution of wastelands, endowment and Government lands, he said. The KVPS district president, D.C. Venkataiah, presided and vice-presidents, T. Subbarayudu and C. Ramachandra and joint secretaries, Ch. Chandrasekhar and B. Jakraiah, also participated.
