Constable detained for wife's murder

By Our Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI, MAY 30. The Delhi police constable suspected to be involved in the murder of his wife, whose body was found at her Narela Police Colony residence in North-West Delhi this Saturday, was today traced and detained along with one of his friends for interrogation.

Constable Ravinder, posted with the photography section of the crime team of the North Delhi police, had gone missing after his wife, Meena, was found murdered in the house with her throat slit. The entire house had been ransacked to give the impression that the murder had been committed with an intention to commit robbery. A television set was also said to be missing from there.

Meena's body was first spotted by the sweeper who had come to clean the house in the morning. Though she was murdered brutally, the assailants spared her two-year-old son, Harry, who was then asleep. As Ravinder was found missing after the incident came to light, the police launched a hunt for him suspecting his involvement. He was traced today and brought to Narela police station along with his friend for interrogation. Meanwhile, his father, who is also in the Delhi police, also turned up and gave his statement to the police. It is learnt that a team has also been sent to Gwalior in this connection.
