KOCHI, MAY 31. S. Parameswaran, senior lawyer practising in the Kerala High Court, died of a cardiac arrest here today. He was 65. He was a member of the visiting faculty of the National Law School, Bangalore, the Indian School of Legal Thought of the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and the Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Pondicherry. Mr. Parameswaran was a former president of the Kerala High Court Advocates' Association and had served as general secretary of the Indian Association of Lawyers, Kerala unit. He was also vice-president of the People's Council for Social Justice. He had to his credit 10 law books and was an Editorial Board member of the Supreme Court Weekly Reporter, Kerala Law Reporter and the Kerala Law Times. In his condolence message, the former Supreme Court judge, V.R. Krishna Iyer, said Mr. Parameswaran was "an outstanding jurist, sound advocate, author of law books, a generous friend and leading lawyer, whose independence, commitment to public interest litigation and high value in profession have always won the appreciation and admiration". In his demise, "we have lost a fine gentleman who fought for public causes," he said.
