MTNL, BSNL merger `under study'

NEW DELHI, JUNE 1. The Government is understood to have revived the proposal to merge the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited to facilitate the state-owned companies to face the fierce competition from private service providers. The plan was discussed at a meeting the Telecom Commission authorities had with the CMDs last month.
