This Day That Age
The deposed Chief Minister of East Bengal, Mr.A.K.Fazlul Huq, has again been branded as a "self-confessed traitor to Pakistan" by the country's Prime Minister, Mr.Mohammed Ali. In a broadcast to the nation, Mr.Mohammed Ali referred to the disturbances in East Bengal, leading to the dismissal of the Huq Ministry, and said the situation in the province was "rapidly deteriorating." He blamed Mr.Huq's "unwillingness and inability" for this. "Mr.Fazlul Huq," the Prime Minister said, "emerged as a self-confessed traitor to Pakistan" and this left the Central Government with no alternative but to dismiss him and his Cabinet and to assume direct control of the administration.
