Vijayawada
By Our Staff Reporter
VIJAYAWADA, JUNE 3. The Joint Collector of Krishna district, P. Sampath Kumar, on Thursday welcomed the conduct of a 10-day children's film festival in four divisions of the district from July 5. "The film festival will enable children to watch and enjoy films which bagged national and international awards," he said adding the district was given permission to host the festival after a gap of seven years. Participating in a review meeting with officials and owners of cinema theatres, Mr. Sampath Kumar said the films selected for the festival would be screened in four divisions across the district. The first part of the festival would be organised in Vijayawada and Gudivada divisions from July 5 to 8 while the second leg of the event would be hosted by Machilipatnam and Nuzvid from July 12 to 15. At least 15 films would be shown in each division, he said. An entrance fee of Rs. 3 would be charged. Representative of the Children's Film Society, R. Ramakrishnan, said seven children's movies have been selected for the festival. Based on the response of children and cooperation of the exhibitors, the society would screen additional shows in the festival period. Mr. Ramakrishnan said the society would, however, pay a nominal sum of Rs. 300 to Rs. 500 for each show to the theatre-owners and the viewers would be shown the Telugu-dubbed version of the films selected for screening. The films to be screened during the festival include Mosali, Mayajala coat, Okappudu Pass Okappudu Fail and Gunapatham.
