Quiz competition

KOCHI JUNE 3. The Advertising Club of Cochin will conduct a quiz competition titled `Ad Quest 2004' at the International Hotel on Saturday. The quizzing will involve advertising and other business topics. Apart from Ad Club members, B-school students and corporates can take part in the quiz. Bus operators' protest

The Ernakulam District Private Bus Operators' Association has protested against the haphazard manner in which the inauguration of the Goshree bridges has been planned to be held on June 5, much before work on the roads are complete. The Association president, M. Khalid Mudapilly, said that the work on approach roads and side roads were not yet over. The grant of permits for private buses to ply in the route was also not complete, he said.

Samithy demand

The Sree Narayana Samskarika Samithy has demanded that the trio of Goshree bridges be named after Sahodaran Aiyappan, who played a major role in reawakening people who were downtrodden. The bridges should remain a memorial in his honour, the samithy said.

CPI(M) criticism

The CPM has demanded a speedy investigation into the twin murders which occurred in Edapally a few days back. In a press release issued here today, the secretary of the Ernakulam area committee, K.N. Unnikrishnan, said that despite such gruesome incidents taking place in Ernakulam frequently, the accused had not been arrested in most cases.

Review meeting

The monthly review meeting of superintendents of various hospitals in Ernakulam district will be held at the IMA Hall, Warriam Road, at 10 a.m. on June 5, the DMO, K.T. Ramani, has said.

Mock drill

A siren will go off at the Travancore Cochin Chemicals factory between 10.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on June 8 as part of the mock drill that is being held. Members of the public have been requested not to panic on hearing the siren.
