COIMBATORE, JUNE 4. The Tirupur Exporters' Association (TEA) has launched a programme, `Welcome 2005', to help its members obtain quality standard certification. The TEA president, A. Sakthivel, said data compilation of members who had implemented the standards would be completed shortly. The association was identifying consultants for the programme aimed at improving the production quality in their units Units would be clustered in groups of five or six each to provide `cost advantage' for obtaining the certification. Initially, ISO certification would be taken up. Later the units would be encouraged to go in for `apparel sector-specific standardisations.'
