HYDERABAD, JUNE 4. The film actor, N. Balakrishna, allegedly involved in a shooting incident in which the film producer, B. Suresh, and his associate, Satyanarayana Choudhary, were seriously injured, was stated to be under "tremendous stress" and "intense depression." The condition of the actor had to be closely monitored since he had been taking blood thinners after developing blood clots in lungs after he suffered a fracture in his foot during a film shooting a few months ago. This revelation by doctors at the CARE hospital, where the actor was admitted, ruled out the possibility of the police taking him into custody, at least temporarily. He is unlikely to be discharged in a day or two. Briefing newsmen on Friday, Sarat Chandra V. Talluri, Head, Pulmonary and Critical Care Unit, said though Balakrishna was ``recovering,'' he was not in a condition to speak. "He has been administered sedatives and feeling drowsy." The city police had been waiting to question him with regard to the incident, but the doctors' opinion would prevent them from recording his statement. Dr. Sarat Chandra said the actor was earlier suffering from hypertension and hypothyroidism. He was hospitalised at the CARE for "pulmonary thrombo-embolism", a life-threatening disorder characterised by blood clots in lungs and was put on blood thinning medicines before being discharged on May 22. When asked about the injuries the actor had suffered on his right hand and abdomen, Dr. Chandra said: "We have no details on how he suffered injuries. It is a skin deep cut on the hand and minor injuries on abdomen." He refused to comment when asked whether Balakrishna had inflicted injuries on himself. Asked if Balakrishna was intoxicated at the time of his admission, Dr. Sarat Chandra maintained that he was not sure about it. "Presently, he is in ICU recovering from yesterday night's injury and acute stress reaction. We will re-assess his condition tomorrow morning," Dr. Chandra added. Meanwhile, the actor's wife, Vasundhara, was also admitted to the CARE hospital. Dr. Chandra said that she was "under stress" and even had abrasions on her hand.
