KOCHI, JUNE 4. Those who dreamed of and worked for the fulfilment of the Goshree bridges were paid floral tributes at a unique function held on the Bolgatty Bridge here today. The programme, organised by the Greater Cochin Islands Development Council (GCIDC), saw a large number of islanders paying floral tributes to the men of old generation, including Sahodaran Ayyappan and E.K. Nayanar. Other great men like Sarvodaya Kurian, K.C. Abraham, Rajesh Pilot, George Eden, M.K. Raghavan, M.K. Krishnan and P.K. Velayudhan - all of them had contributed their mite for fruition of the Goshree project - were also commemorated on the occasion. Presiding over the function, C.M. Devassy, president of the Vypeen block panchayat, said remembering the old generation was not to be found common in today's world. K.P. Haridas, DCC vice-president, inaugurated the function. P.V. Chandramohan, former project engineer of Goshree Islands Development Authority (GIDA), N.T. Thankappan, Mulavukadu panchayat president, Sabu George, former deputy mayor, P.R. Murali, opposition leader at Elankunnapuzha panchayat, and Noushad V., Mulavukadu Island Development Council president, were among those who spoke. P.V. Vinod, convener of the GCIDC, proposed a vote of thanks.
