Anti-Dowry Forum hails Supreme Court verdict

By Our Staff Correspondent

TUMKUR, JUNE 5. The Anti-Dowry Forum, a counselling agency, and the Human Rights Centre have welcomed the recent judgment by the Supreme Court on the need for legislation to prevent sexual assault on children and women.

The president of the forum, Annapoorna Venkatananjappa, and the convener of the centre, S.C. Rajakumar, told presspersons here on Saturday that the verdict was a victory to voluntary organisations which had been striving for such legislation. The apex court had taken up a public interest litigation filed by Sakshi, a non-governmental organisation.
