BIDAR, JUNE 5. The Bidar district administration has written to the State Government to take disciplinary action against a senior sub-registrar (land records) here after lapses and procedural errors were found during a surprise inspection of his office on Friday. In a report to the Inspector-General of Stamps and Registration, the Deputy Commissioner, T.K. Anil Kumar, said the sub-registrar, Girish Chandra, had violated rules and regulations. Mr. Chandra had illegally delegated the responsibility of handling cash transactions to a computer operator, it was alleged. He was unable to properly explain the shortfall of Rs. 11,000, and had illegally kept pending nearly 30 applications for registration, issue of sale deeds, and other official work. The sequencing of inward files and applications was also not found to be in order, it is said. Mr. Kumar has directed the district registrar to carry out an inspection of the office and take steps to ensure that the people are not put to hardship. A team comprising Mr. Kumar and the zilla panchayat Chief Executive Officer, Naveen Raj Singh, raided the premises after complaints were received about the functioning of the office, officials said.
