BIJAPUR, JUNE 5. Thundershowers lashed Bijapur and other parts of the district and a man died when he was struck by lightning at Danyal village, 25 km. from here, on Saturday. The Tikota police gave the name of the victim as Guranna Siddanna Armani (28). He was taken to the Civil Hospital soon after he was struck by lightning, but he could not be saved. In Bijapur city, rain and gusty winds uprooted trees and electric poles disrupting power supply for several hours. A tree fell on M.G. Road severing power lines. Power supply was disrupted in several areas. Electricity was not restored in many areas until late in the evening. Several low-lying areas and the main bus stand were inundated.
