SHIMOGA, JUNE 5. A weeklong intensive tree planting programme, Sahyadriya Chiguru, of Nanna Kanasina Shimoga, was launched here on Saturday to mark World Environment Day with Mallikarjun Murugharajendra Swamiji of Bekkinakalmath planting a sapling at a public park in Vinobanagar. Prasannanath Swamiji of the local branch of the Adichunchanagiri Math, the Deputy Commissioner, Tushar Girinath, Fayaz Ahmed, councillor, and the office-bearers of Nanna Kanasina Shimoga participated. The programme involves planting of saplings in about 20 public parks. The organisation says that it will extend assistance and arrange for the supply of saplings and fertilizers to voluntary associations if they come forward to maintain the parks.
