ERODE, JUNE 5. The Joint Registrar of Cooperatives, B. Joghee, has said that the Erode District Central Cooperative Bank and the Erode District Consumers Cooperative Bank top in all-round development in the State and out the 277 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks (PACB) in the district, 207 are functioning successfully. Inaugurating the managerial effectiveness training programme for the employees of the district central cooperative bank, he said that the banks have advanced Rs 2.70 crores to 2,500 Women self help groups (SHG) in the district last year and the recovery was very encouraging. He said that 98 per cent of the loans were recovered in time and out of the 7,500 SHGs, 4,050 SHGs have transactions with the cooperative banks. Mr. Joghee said that the department was taking efforts to make 20 sick PACBs profitable institutions. The Central Cooperative Bank was also lending liberally for the Weaver's Cooperative Societies. Speaking on the occasion, the Managing Director of the Erode District Central Cooperative Bank, K.M. Vellingiri, said that 138 employees of the bank was undergoing three phase training on customer-friendly service. Eminent personalities have provided training on financial sector reforms and delivered lectures on the changing scenario in cooperative banking systems. He stressed the importance of customer-friendly methods and pleaded the bank employees to behave patiently with the customers. The Principal of Natesan Institute of Cooperative Management, Chennai, S. Vadivelu, Lecturers of the Institute K. Purushothaman, K. Sureshbabu, V. Mariappan, the Central Cooperative Bank General Manager P. Ranganathan and others spoke.
