Minister promises funds for water conservation
By Our Staff Reporter
THRISSUR,
JUNE 5.
The Finance Minister, K. Sankaranarayanan, has said the Government is prepared to spend any amount for conserving water.
Inaugurating the rain-pit digging programme of the Thrissur Corporation here today, the Minister said funds would be allotted for water conservation irrespective of the budget allocations. He said the State had already allocated Rs.3 crores for the massive drive to dig two crore rain-pits across the State.
Emphasising that governmental efforts alone cannot solve the water shortage in the State, the Minister said the people should come forward on their own to undertake water conservation measures.
