Fr. Vithayathil to be elevated to the status of `Servant of God'

THRISSUR,
JUNE 5.
The cofounder of the Holy Family convent, the late Fr. Joseph Vithayathil, will soon be elevated to the spiritual status of `Servant of God' by the Vatican.
According to Irinjalakuda diocese sources, the diocesan Bishop, Mar James Pazhayattil, has received an official communication from the Vatican in this regard. A formal announcement on the Vatican's decision will be made at a ceremony to be held at the memorial of Fr. Vithayathil at the Holy Family convent chapel, Kuzhikkattussery, here, on June 7, the sources said.
Fr. Vithayathil was the spiritual guide of Mother Mariam Teresa, recently beatified by Pope John Paul II.
He was born in Puthanpalli Vithayathil family in Ernakulam in 1865 and died in 1964 after seven decades of service as priest.
