THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JUNE 5 . The Kerala Congress(M) today urged the UDF leadership to expedite the probe into the ruling front's defeat in the Muvattupuzha Lok Sabha constituency and the alleged role of some of the leaders of UDF constituents in transferring votes in favour of the NDA candidate, P. C. Thomas. The Kerala Congress(M) State secretariat's demand in this regard is likely to give headache to the UDF leadership when it meets on June 14 to complete its evaluation of the ruling front's wash out in the Lok Sabha elections. The Kerala Congress(M) has not mentioned any names, but the brunt of its charge has been directed at the Kerala Congress(Jacob). The party secretariat was of the opinion that the failure to explain to the voters in Muvattupuzha the circumstances leading to Mr. Thomas's defection to the BJP camp was one of the main reasons for the defeat of the party candidate, Jose K. Mani. The party secretariat, which was presided over by its chairman, C. F. Thomas, and attended by notable leaders including the Revenue Minister, K. M. Mani, said the problems in the UDF were also responsible for tarnishing the image of the ruling front. No special inquiry, says CPI(M): The CPI(M) State secretary, Pinarayi Vijayan, today made it clear that there would not be any special inquiry into the outcome of elections to the Moovattupuzha Lok Sabha constituency. The CPI(M) leader was inaugurating the 42nd State conference of the NGO Union at Kattappana in Idukki district today.
