HYDERABAD, JUNE 5. The Congress Legislature Party has decided to review the allocation of housing schemes for better "spread of the benefit" while reiterating its commitment to the fulfilment of its campaign promise in this regard. When a couple of members raised this matter during the CLP meet chaired by its leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at the conclusion of the 12th session of the House on Saturday, Dr. Reddy said anomalies in the programme must be rectified. There was also a demand for allocation of more houses to cyclone-affected areas irrespective of "quota or social status," another suggestion said. Creation of Constituency Development Fund also figured in the meet. The meeting discussed the performance of the Government in the last two weeks and the measures adopted by it to tackle the crisis in the farm sector. Dr. Reddy urged members to launch an intensive campaign in their constituencies to create confidence among farmers and weavers that the Government was there to take care of their problems. The free power policy and the benefits thereof to the farming community should be conveyed effectively, he said. Urging MLAs to highlight the pro-people's policies of the new Government, he said "the false claims'' of the TDP must also be exposed. Talking to presspersons later, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy said the TDP had tried to mislead people on the Congress manifesto during the election campaign. The Congress had kept its word and began implementing its promises one by one - the first one being the free power which was announced on the day of his taking oath at a public meeting, Dr. Reddy said. Dr. Reddy said he would once again "go to people" to instil confidence among them and prevent further suicides. The "praja sampark yatra'' would be launched on June 13 from Chevella of Rangareddy district, the venue of previous two highly successful yatras. The Chief Minister said he would be covering about 150 km a day interacting with people and explaining to them the pro-people programmes of his Government. The measures being adopted to complete pending projects and the programmes being evolved for artisans would also be explained to them. He expressed satisfaction at the performance of his MLAs during the six-day Assembly session. He was happy that even newcomers were highlighting people's problems in the House as well in the representations made to him. The Minister for Finance, K. Rosaiah, also addressed the meet.
